Forming the SRA Panel
NUMBER
OF PANELS
Two district-appointed SRA panels
(one in language arts literacy and one in mathematics) oversee the SRA
process for each student who is partially proficient in LAL and/or is
partially proficient in mathematics.
WHO
ARE ON THE PANELS?
A minimum of three teachers certified
in that HSPA content area must be on the panel.
FOR
LANGUAGE ARTS LITERACY: The panel must include secondary certified
English teachers. Reading certified teachers may also be members of the
SRA LAL panel but they may only score the SRA PATs in reading.
FOR
MATHEMATICS: THE mathematics panel must include secondary certified
mathematics teachers.
ADDITIONALLY:
ESL/Bilingual staff must also be included on the panel for
all native language SRA related decisions or if LEP students are completing
the SRA in English.
RESPONSIBILITIES
OF PANELS
identifying the cluster(s) to be addressed in the partially
proficient content area;
selecting the SRA PATs by cluster to be administered to individual students;
administering the SRA PAT; (Teachers need not be certified in the content
area to administer the PAT. Substitute or non-certified teachers may
not administer SRA PATs.)
scoring the student responses to the SRA PATs; (Only teachers certified
in the content area may score the PAT. Likewise, ESL/Bilingual teachers
who are certified in the content area may also score the PAT.)
tracking student progress; and
completing the SRA student profiles.
