The Role of the State: Onsite Verification

VERFICATION PROCESS
Each year the New Jersey Department of Education consults with county offices to select districts for onsite verification that the school districts are following the SRA process. Districts will be notified prior to the onsite verification.

VERIFICATION TEAM

A team composed of personnel from the county and the Office of Evaluation and Assessment will conduct the onsite verification. The onsite team will review a random sampling of students' actual responses to HSPA SRA PATs, the scoring of those PATs, SRA Instructional Program, Student Profile Forms, Student Response Tracking Sheet, HSPA SRA PAT Record of Copies, district policies and procedures regarding the SRA, SRA panel, student assessment data, and test security procedures. Each onsite verification should require no more than a day. To facilitate the onsite verification, districts should maintain a copy of all completed profiles with supporting documentation for one year.
