SRA Guide
Special Case: End-of-Year

SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES
       An end of year SRA for students who have experienced extenuating circumstances and therefore, their SRA would not be submitted to the county office of education by the March 1 deadline.

An end of year SRA is permitted for seniors who are expected to graduate in June of the current school year but have not yet taken the HSPA in one or more subjects prior to the March test administration of the senior year.
       The following students automatically qualify for an end of year SRA:
              seniors who transfer in from out-of-state or non-public schools after the October HSPA administration;
              seniors who were seriously ill or disabled during prior assessment administrations; and
              IEP Exempt From Pass students who are declassified in their senior year.
       Additional circumstances: students who took the HSPA prior to the March test administration of their senior year but were unable to complete the SRA. The following students may qualify for an end of year SRA with the written permission of the county superintendent:
              seniors who went off roll from a New Jersey public high school prior to the SRA submission deadline and were subsequently readmitted after the SRA submission deadline;

seniors who were ill or disabled for an extended time prior to the SRA submission deadline; and

seniors who would not be certified by the district prior to the SRA submission deadline due to extenuating circumstances.

CONDITIONS AND METHOD OF APPROVAL
       Prior approval for submission of end of year SRAs must be obtained from the office of the county superintendent.
       Unexcused absences or a student's failure to cooperate with the SRA process in a timely manner are not valid reasons for an end of year SRA.
