Student Instruction for the SRA
MONISHA'S
RESULTS REVIEWED
Monisha
takes the HSPA in the spring of her 11th grade year. She did not
pass two parts (clusters) of the Math section.
MONISHA'S
NEXT STEP: INSTRUCTION
1.
In June, the student (in this case, Monisha) needs to arrange with
the school to take the targeted SRA instruction in the summer. The
instruction is 'targeted' to the specific content area which showed
only partial proficiency.
2.
Monisha must
attend a special instructional program in order to learn the areas
of Math that she has been found to be only partially proficient.
MONISHA'S
NEXT STEP: RE-TAKE THE HSPA
3. She must take the
Fall Math HSPA. SHE HAS TO TAKE THE ENTIRE TEST. She does
not need to re-take the LAL, since she was foundm to be proficient
in language arts literacy.
SPECIAL NOTE: Don't panic if Monisha fails the part of the Fall
Math HSPA she had previously passed - that's OK!!! Once she has passed,
she has passed. So if she passes on the first exam, and fails this part
(these clusters) on the second exam, she has still passed.
THE SCHOOL'S
STEPS
It is up to the school
to arrange the days and the times of the instruction.
So, it could be during a week day, or it could be at night, or it
could be on a Saturday.
The school personnel
who are involved in the instruction are the content teachers.
This means, in Monisha's case, she will have to attend a special
instructional program designed by a Math teacher, and taught by
a Math teacher.
